First of all thanks for visiting my blog! I'm Tarah (yes, that girl above with the goofy grin) and I am a twenty six year old total book geek!   As I am sure you have asked yourself as soon as this picture loaded for you..how is it shes in her twenties? She looks like she couldn't be older then twelve!  Well, its, true I am indeed the age that I say I am.  I was born with a form of dwarfism called Osteogenesis Imperfecta or brittle bone disease.  So, that is the reason for the youngish looking appearance that I am sure I will appreciate more when I am older.

I don't break bones as often as I used.  When I was younger below the age of ten especially I would break quite often and through this experience I came to love books.  No matter what bone I ever broke I could usually still hold a book and they were great at always helping me forget what I was going through and transporting me somewhere else in my imagination.  My favorites growing up were pretty much the classics..Mrs Piggle Wiggle (she'd put nanny Mcphee to shame) and the Babysitters Club etc.

In the fall of 2004 I took a magazine writing class at the college I was attending and though that class was fun I learned more from the teacher then just writing.  One day she saw me bring in with my notebooks The Other Woman by Jane Green and after class she told me she had read it too and we discussed it a bit.   The best part of the conversation ,however, was she told me that she worked for Kirkus Reviews (no longer in existence) and she was sent books to review!  I thought the whole idea actually having a JOB reading books I was interested in and giving my opinion was awesome! So, a few years later here I am.

One day I hope for this blog to reach a ton of people and really help those looking to make smart purchase decisions within the genres I cover.  With the economy the way it is today not a penny can be wasted!

Country Book Bumpkin was started in January of 2011 as the combining of two previous blogs Chick Lit Reads & Teen Girl Reads.  I named the blog this eccentric moniker because I live surrounded by farmland and I kid you not, on certain days if a blustering wind blows in a certain direction the smells can be not so pleasant.   So I figured why not combine these two things that can describe me and so the name was created!
